AFTER SCHOOL COUNSELORS

We are currently taking applications for After School Counselors for the 2017-2018 school year. Stop by the Y anytime between 7am-6pm Monday-Friday to complete an application. Applicants need to be at least 18 years of age and bring 3 closed letters of recommendations.

The  After School Counselor is a professional role model. They are responsible for leading a group of children in a variety of activities after their school day. Counselors will lead activities such as homework, physically active games, crafts, swimming, devotions, outside gross motor play, and character development. Applicants must be enthusiastic, engaging, and ready to work with children for several hours at a time. The counselor will be responsible for the safety and well-being of every child in their care. The applicant must be a good role model at all times. The applicant must be reliable, arrive to their scheduled shift on time, and communicate effectively with the Site Supervisor and Programs Director.

Applicants must be available from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm daily to work After School. Hours are 12:30 pm-6 pm on Early Release days.  

Additional hours are required during out of school days, winter weather days, school holidays, and staff trainings.

WELCOME CENTER STAFF

This position serves members and guests, maintains member service control, answers the telephone, answers member questions and performs various clerical duties.

Applicants need to enjoy, be skilled at and understand the importance of building relationships with people: staff, members, volunteers, donors, community leaders. High degree of accuracy with information provided; multi-task oriented; able to take initiative; effective organizational skills; effective communication skills. Experience with computers required.

Hours vary throughout the day from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the YMCA is open 7 days a week. Schedule flexibility a plus.

LIFEGUARD

Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Interested applicants must love working with people, be at least 16 years of age, enjoy an aquatic environment and have CPR, First Aid, AED and O2 Administration Certifications. 

Hours vary throughout the day from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and pool is open 7 days a week. Schedule flexibility a plus.

GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTORS – ALL TYPES OF CLASSES

Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

Interested applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of exercise science principles and current practices (certification and/or work experience strongly preferred)
  • Effective teaching skills
  • High level of enthusiasm and personal initiative
  • Strong inter-personal relations
  • Flexible schedule a plus

Wellness Floor staff

As Wellness Floor Staff you will serve as the primary point of support for members who use the Wellness Center. Primary responsibilities include developing wellness plans for various member populations, leading new member personal training sessions and following up on progress. Additional duties include connecting members to programs, ensuring a safe and clean environment and monitoring activity in the Wellness Center to prevent accidents and provide assistance to members. If you thrive on helping others achieve their goals and have a passion for building and strengthening member relationships, then join our team!

Work schedule varies and will be evenings and weekends, up to 25 hours per week.
