Age Use Guidelines

Children under the age of 12 in the YMCA are required to be under the direct supervision of a parent, guardian or other responsible adult OR enrolled in a supervised program. All children ages 12-17 are limited to no more than 4 hours per day and must leave by 7:00 p.m. Exceptions will be for those who are enrolled in a supervised program or who are with a parent, guardian, or other adult age 18 or older (brother or sister) who will assume responsibility for their supervision.

No school age children are permitted to use the YMCA before 3:00 p.m. on scheduled school days unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian age 18 or older (brother or sister). Exceptions will be children who are home schooled and are using the Y as part of their fitness program.

Only members/guests ages 18 and over may use the designated adult locker rooms (even if they are with an adult age 18 or over). Family dressing areas are available for all others. If necessary, the Y recommends the use of the lower level participant’s dressing areas for dressing children from age 4 until they are capable of using the locker room areas on their own. Children under age 4 may use the opposite sex family locker rooms with a parent for dressing and showering.

All youth members, participants, and guests must use the facility safely and responsibly.  If they fail to do so they may be asked to leave the YMCA and their parent or guardian will be contacted.  Youth and teens ages 18 & under are not allowed to “hang out” for extended periods of time without being involved in a program or activity.  The YMCA staff reserves the right to make discretionary decisions regarding unsupervised youth.
