Summer Fun Camps (All-day)

We are excited to be able to offer day camp this summer, beginning Monday, June 1, 2020.  Our camp is going to look a little different this summer, but as always, we will do our best to create the best summer experience possible for your children!

As always, our YMCA puts safety first in everything we do. 2020 Day Camp will strictly follow the regulations of the CDC, state and local government officials and the North Carolina State Alliance. During this time, please know that all decisions that are made, will be made with caution and safety in mind.

Our camp will have 40 spots, available on a first come, first serve basis for the first week of camp.  If there is interest for additional spots, we will work to accommodate those, so we ask that you complete the waiting list information provided in registration.  Based on the first week’s camp, we will add additional space throughout the summer as guidelines changes and conditions allow.  Camp registration will begin Tuesday, May 26th at 8:00 a.m. and will be available online only.  You may click here to register.  If you have trouble with online registration, please email

Camp will operate at the J. Smith Young YMCA from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer Camp Northern Lights or Camp Adventure this summer, although both groups are welcome to attend camp at the YMCA. Because of COVID-19 requirements for childcare, staff have been instructed not to allow anyone in the check in area until 7:00 a.m.. We will be closed July 3rd in observance of Independence Day.

Each morning parents will walk with their kids to the “commons area” of the Dillon Center and wait as one of our staff members completes the Daily Screening. The Daily Screening will consist of:

  • A temperature check (Temperatures of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed)
  • A series of questions

If your child has a fever of 100.4 or higher, is coughing or sneezing consistently, has a runny nose, diarrhea or vomiting, please do not bring them to camp. If your child has any of these symptoms while at camp, we will keep them in a safe but isolated area and contact you to pick them up as soon as possible.

After you have completed the daily screening, please walk your child to their designated area where the children will wash their hands. The designated area is where you will sign in your child, drop off and pick up your child daily.

There will be 4 groups this summer in 4 different locations at our YMCA. The group names are Y, M, C, A. Each group must consist of no more than 10 children and they must remain in their designated area of the YMCA with the exception of walking outside or playing in the gym.

According to CDC regulations, our immediate plans will not include any bus travel, swimming or special guests. We will play games (without contact), have arts & crafts, science fun, creative play time, recreating time, devotions and more.  We will provide lunch & an afternoon snack and we ask that parents/guardians send a morning snack & a water bottle for your child. The YMCA will provide face mask/buffs for our campers and staff that need to be worn during the day to ensure the safety of us all.

Camp prices will be $90/members & $110/nonmembers for a full week of camp.  Drop in fees (for 1-2 days a week) will be $22/members and $30/nonmembers. This is a reduction in fees from prior years because we are unable to offer all the things we have in the past.

Once again, thank you for your cooperation during these challenging times. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact:
