Swimming Lessons for All Ages

Swimming is a life skill that builds confidence, promotes safety, and supports lifelong health. At the YMCA of Lexington, we offer swim lessons and aquatic programs for all ages and abilities, from young children learning the basics to adults seeking to improve technique or overcome fear of the water.

Serving families throughout Davidson County, our YMCA swim lessons are led by certified instructors in a supportive environment focused on water safety, skill-building, and personal growth in and around the water.

Group Swim Lessons

Each of our YMCA group swim lessons follows a structured curriculum that emphasizes skill development and water safety. Instructors assess each participant’s progress and provide report cards on the final day, highlighting strengths and areas to improve. Depending on class size, your child may be paired with swimmers of varying experience levels, allowing them to both learn and reinforce skills in a collaborative environment.

Infant Swim Classes

Designed to build both water comfort and trust, our parent-child swim lessons help young children become familiar with water in a safe and supportive environment. With guidance from our trained instructors, adult/child duos enjoy songs, games, and water play that make each session engaging and fun. This class is the perfect first step in creating positive, confidence-building experiences around water.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

This online hybrid course is designed to give participants the basic skills and knowledge needed to be lifeguards in pools and aquatic environments. This comprehensive course offers up to date information on how to guard, anticipate , prevent problems and to take action to help those in need. CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are included in the cost of the program. Participants must pass pre test before registering for course.

Birthday Parties

Celebrate your special day at the YMCA of Lexington with a fun and active pool party experience! Guests enjoy one hour of swim time with a certified lifeguard followed by one hour in a private program room where you can serve refreshments and enjoy the celebration.

Party Package: $150 (members & non-members)
Includes up to 25 guests, a lifeguard, tables, and chairs.

Lexington Aquatic Park

Outdoor Swimming Pool, Open During Summer Months
Operated by the J. Smith Young YMCA, the Lexington Aquatic Park is a seasonal outdoor swimming pool offering summer fun for the whole family. Please note that the facility has a maximum occupancy, and admission will be suspended once capacity is reached. Be sure to review all pool rules before your visit at Lexington Aquatic Park Rules.

Free for J. Smith Young YMCA members (must present membership card)

$2 for ages 0–17

$4 for ages 18+

Storm Closing Policy

For the safety of our members and program participants, the pool will close immediately during thunderstorms and will remain closed for 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder. We appreciate your understanding as we follow these guidelines to ensure a safe aquatic environment.
