The J. Smith Young YMCA is a not for profit organization that provides programs and services that benefits people of all backgrounds and situations. The YMCA provides financial assistance to families who wish to be a part of YMCA programs and membership but who are unable to afford the fees. You can help in several different ways.

The YMCA has many different volunteer opportunities in areas such as youth sports, after school programs, youth & teen programs, membership, nursery & more!

The YMCA provides financial assistance to families and individuals unable to afford our fees for membership and programs. You can help us to help others through donations in several areas:

  • Give to the Y through an online donation at
  • Give to the United Way of Davidson County. The YMCA is a member agency.
  • Give to the YMCA Annual Giving Campaign. This campaign raises money to further our service to youth.
  • Provide for continuing YMCA programs and facilities through giving to our Capital Endowment program.
  • Sponsor a YMCA youth sports team.
  • Donate needed equipment or services to offset YMCA expenses. Contact our program department directors to find out things we need.
  • Contact the YMCA Chief Executive Officer for more information on ways to help the YMCA help others.
